Ok so I’ve been talking a lot about these protein shakes and everyone is asking questions, so here’s a synapses of my latest infatuation.
About 6 months ago I started drinking Muscle Milk Light protein shakes, on the recommendation of a trainer at the local YMCA gym, to rebuild muscle tissue after my workouts. A couple of months later, I was inspired by my beautiful (and skinny) sister-in-law Bethany, whom I found out had been losing weight on protein shakes (Muscle Milk). So I started replacing 2 meals a day with protein shakes and eating a healthy dinner. A few weeks later, 10 lbs had been shed. BUT, I was tired of only having vanilla or chocolate shakes and I hated the strawberries-n-cream. I had started adding fruit to the vanilla for variety, but was looking for more flavors.
After trying a variety of protein shakes (which by the way, most are gross), I found Herbalife. I knew of Herbalife, but didn’t know much about them. I tried the cookies-n-cream and loved it. I compared the nutrition labels and the cost per serving and was pleased with both. $1.15 per serving (plus skim milk), which was a complete meal for me twice a day. I found they have 6 different flavors of protein shakes plus a book of recipes to expound upon. The possibilities are endless!
The protein shakes work well for me because I don’t have time to make myself a healthy breakfast and a healthy lunch nor do I have time to sit and eat them. So I find the protein shakes extremely convenient for my lifestyle. Little prepping and drink on-the-go. My mornings are hectic and short on time, as we have to get ourselves ready and our 2 daughters. This includes packing their lunches and making their healthy breakfasts. My lunch hours are often sacrificed for errands or quickie-workouts, no time for fancy meals, but perfect for a protein shake in car.
I also have an additional reason to love these. Not to get too personal, but I have gut issues. GERD, they think it is. So I often have stomach pain after eating/drinking. Since replacing 2 meals a day with protein shakes and eating a healthy dinner, I have had no more stomach pain. I limit my red meat intake and take vitamin supplements. I feel great and energetic. No more afternoon crashes. I also have found that my immune system has held up extremely well over the last few months, which my kids have tested time and time again.
So, now that I sound like a Sunday afternoon infomercial, “let me tell you how you can get yours today!”.
You can get a freshly made Herbalife protein shake of your choice at Nutrition Revolution, where I had my first. If you do, tell Teri I sent you J. OR, you can buy your own Herbalife protein mix to make at home. In which case, contact me directly.
Hey 'Lis, they have a gluten-free option too!
Gluten free..perfect. I'll have to buy some and bring it home with me next time I'm in.
ReplyDeleteFor us, the cost of protein powder around here is out of control expensive.
